Based on the previous DAC in comparison to the new D20 the specs and features , this feels like a generational leap . What am expecting from this DAC is it need to be as neutral as possible, this would be great for audiophiles. The addition of the Display is very welcomed , but i hope its interface is clear and readable and without lags and am impatient to see how the "Digital Filters" are going to work the controls provided and how well it's implemented, Really interested in this feature

Overall this new dac looks promising on paper and i can't wait to dive straight into listening to it. Am confident and trust Aiyima to bring to us a great product.... I hope the price isn't going to burn a hole in our pockets though....hahaha

That is possible with the right cable. Both XLR output and TRS input are analogue and balanced. Internal dac on A80 will probably become redundant though.

Sending some love from South Africa! Been happily using my D07 as my daily driver and it’s been punching well above its weight, so I’m really curious to see what the D20 brings to the table.
The dual DAC concept is what excites me most honestly. I’ve seen Nobsound doing something similar with their Q11 (ESS9038Q2M + AK4493 combo), but it feels more like a gimmick on that unit — no real way to properly compare the two signatures or take full advantage of having both chips. If AIYIMA can nail a proper quick-switch between the two DAC paths so you can A/B on the same track without interruption, that alone would make this the one to beat at this price point. Make it easy for us to actually hear the difference, you know?
For the display — I know everyone loves VU meters and flashy spectrum stuff, but what I’d genuinely use day to day is a clean info screen. Show me which DAC chip is active, the sample rate, bit depth, and current filter all in one view. That’s way more useful than animations imo. Maybe have the fancy visualizations as an option for when you want to show off, but give us a “just the facts” mode too.
Some feature requests that would make daily life easier:
∙ Auto input switching with priority — like if I set USB as primary, it should grab focus when my PC wakes up but fall back to optical when USB goes idle. Switching manually every time gets old fast
∙ Per-input volume memory so I don’t have to readjust every time I switch between sources, different gear runs at different levels obviously
∙ Some kind of display dimming for night listening, even just a simple schedule or a manual low-brightness mode. Bright screens in a dark room at 11pm isn’t great lol
Also just a small thing — please make firmware updates straightforward over USB without needing some obscure Windows-only tool. That stuff matters more than people think.
Really excited to see the full 10th anniversary set come together. The D07 already showed me AIYIMA knows what they’re doing with DACs so I’ve got high hopes for this one

I'd expect design to be consistent with other components in the series and maximum compatibility. Good effort with the D20, only eARC is missing. Not sure if it has a graphic equaliser, but with a touch screen and software there may then be the ability to choose between two-three tone controls or either five, seven, nine or a ten band equaliser and ability to control then using the touch screen? Must have streaming quality stats available too and the ability to move or resize elements or choose from different options for displaying multiple items would also be good. i.e. streaming rate on top right hand corner or to left hand corner etc etc.

As many options and styles as possible, get inspiration from iconic equipment from each decade since the1960s for VU, equaliser and normal display theme. Could group multiple styles by decade for reach o element but it would be good to be able to also pick from different decades for different elements if you prefer i.e. VU from 70s, menu style from 80s, graphic equaliser from 90s etc. Please use 2020s display resolution and colour etc (minimum 1080p) with ability to dim/change brightness (consider auto brightness) and ability to change colours for each or as preset themes for colours that match well together.

Been using a D-A2 for a couple of years along wiith an A07 amp for my small office setup. Intrigued with how Aiyima components would work in my primary listening room.

I’m incredibly impressed by the hardware implementation on the D20. As an audiophile who values both analytical precision and musical warmth, having the ESS ES9039Q2M and AKM AK4493SEQ in one unit is a game-changer. It’s like having two distinct sound signatures to match my mood or specific gear.

I plan to test the ESS side for critical listening with high-res instrumental tracks (like Akira Ito or Fred Hersch) where imaging is paramount, and the AKM side for a more relaxed session with my warmer IEMs.

My technical question: Given the fully balanced architecture, how are the filters managed between the two chips? Will we have access to the full suite of AKM and ESS digital filters through that beautiful 3.4-inch display?
