AIYIMA × HYFIOO Flagship Streaming Player — DM-100!

Me alegra mucho recibir tu respuesta; he visto tus comentarios. Sin duda, seguiremos optimizando las funciones de gestión de música; además, hablaré con los ingenieros para ver si es posible implementar la función de añadir fotos manualmente.

I just installed the DM100 and there's lot to like. I also own the Rose Audio RS250 streamer that is 5x the price but the software (updates) started to bug me. This is now day two and I've got most things going as I like to have them. Next up is transferring the SSD from the RS250 to the DM100.

Playing Qubuz √
Playing Video with subtitles √
Smarttube x (keep getting 403) entering proxy didn't work but...
Network transfer √ but SMB(1?) is very slow x This should be SMB 3!!!
Installing my fav Android apps √
Therefore I can remedy this with:
X-plore filemgr> activate FTP server on my phone and speed is >20MB/s.
Install Opera browser and I can watch YouTube without ads.
HD Movies, watch the newest movies for free √

For any video play however it's a bit choppy, but turning off the mirroring in the remote app fixes this. This could be better.

Loading YouTube pages in Opera browser is quite slow (not Opera's fault). This could be better. But I prefer waiting than having to watch stupid ads (brainwashing).

One last thing for now: I prefer a dark mode in Android. Like Qubuz doesn't look good and is blinding me (literally, eye problem). I can't find a dark mode anywhere. See:1000081251.jpg

You can install any music or tagging app to change tags or album art. I like Musicolet to play my FLAC files (or any music filetype) and you can change or insert any jpg as cover art into the FLAC as a tag.

Strange name; Musicolet. Musica non olet. (Latin for music does not stink 😄).

Edit, this was a reply for Jesus...🙄

I’m glad you like and share DM100. Here are some answers to your questions.

If Smarttube isn’t playing, simply update the software. Smarttube is updated frequently, so most issues with playback or error messages are usually caused by an outdated version.

You can also choose the dark theme for Qubuz; please check my attachment.

We welcome your feedback and sharing at any time while using the app, as this helps us make timely improvements. Finally, I wish you all the best!

Thanks for sharing the app. I tested Musicolet, and it really is quite useful—you can download music without GMS, which is great news for users who don’t like to mess around with technical details.

You can change album art by uploading images to the SSD via NAS or a web browser, then using Musicolet to replace the images. Actually, this can be done right within the built-in file manager: just create a new image folder, upload the album art you’ve found to that folder, copy the corresponding image, paste it into the appropriate music album file, and then tap the cover on the playback page to update it.

You can also long-press an album on the album library page, select “Rename Album,” enter the album title and artist/singer, and the corresponding album cover will appear. (Note: Before performing this operation, please go to the album library settings page and select “Get from the Internet if no cover is available locally.”)0001.jpg

Ok, I don't like asking a dumb question (yes it's dumb because I read the answer , it's just I don't like it) but I want to be sure. Since I don't have a computer I can't format my new 4TB SSD, Lexar NQ790 M.2 2280 PCIe NVMe
1000081723.jpg
I think I have the right type, inserted it correctly and went to [settings/ general/format drive], I see this. I don't see any drive so I assume it doesn't see an unformatted drive?

1000081726.jpg

What do I need to do? I don't have a computer, just a phone. On the Rose streamer I could just format the new SSD, only that's a different type.

I asked google "hyfioo dm100 installing ssd drive" but I don't think the AI answer under 3 is correct.
3. Setting Up the Storage on Android 14Once the hardware is secured, plug the power cable back in and boot up the system. Because the DM100 runs a customized Android 14 OS, you must initialize the new drive:Go to the device Settings from the 5.5-inch touchscreen display.Select Storage Settings or System Tools. If prompt by the system, select Format as internal/local storage. Alternatively, choose Format as exFAT if it asks for a portable music storage layout.Let the format complete. The native music library app will now allow you to map, scan, and store high-resolution audio files (DSD, FLAC, WAV) directly on the drive.

So, what do I need to do?

I understand your issue. If you’re using a brand-new SSD, I’m afraid I have to tell you that you must partition the SSD using your computer so that it can be recognized by the system; only then will the DM100 be able to detect it.

The DM100 uses a PCIe 3.0 interface. I checked the Lexar website and confirmed that your SSD model is fully compatible.

Yeah. I was afraid so.

I think it's something to consider fixing since it's not impossible to implement. Maybe it's for safety reasons. Still, not exactly 'plug and play'.

It's very annoying since I don't have a computer anymore. I used to build computers so I do know stuff, but I've been out for 10 years. Better for my health.
But after I get it done I think it'll be soon forgotten.

Btw: I looked at the network access.
I can choose 'activate SMB 1'. What do I get when it's deactivated?
SMB 1 is a rather old standard and very slow. Is that for backwards compatibility? It's very unclear.
Please consider implementing SMB 3 in an update. Then I can just leave it on and have a fast network storage.

PS: also, thank you for the update. Icons on the remote app are 👍🏻.
Idea: a start stop button on the notification bar for the app. So when you wake up your phone you can instantly pause playback. It's good to have a quick access to stop the music in case something happens that demands instant attention. Like the doorbell. 😄

I’m sorry for the inconvenience, but partitioning an SSD is a necessary step for all new SSDs—there’s no way around it.

Partitioning is very simple these days. Just use a desktop or laptop computer, set up an external SSD enclosure, connect the drive, and you can partition it right away. It doesn’t require any complicated steps; you can find instructions by asking an AI assistant or searching Google.

Finally, regarding SMB 1, it can be disabled. It’s only included for compatibility with older devices. Most modern systems support SMB 2 or 3, and the DM100 supports SMB 3 out of the box, so no action is required on your part.

Ah, ok. So SMB 3 is supported out of the box. You should advertise that! It isn't clear from the description.
That makes the DM100 a basic Nas too. So many usefully functions.

I didn't check speed. But FTP would be nice too. I got a much higher speed from it (20MB/s) but read only. That's a limitation of the app I use.

I used to have 12 partitions on my PC with windows 95, 2000, Linux, BeOS and another one I forgot. Back then you could start from the bios, or a special partitioning program. Android isn't like that. I'm getting old. 🥱 Still, I'm smarter than AI. I know when it's hallucinating or false. Always check...

Yes, once you install an SSD, it can definitely function as a NAS. Unfortunately, the FTP protocol you mentioned is not supported.

Please don’t say that. Your life experience and wisdom are the true skills honed over time—things that no one can just pick up overnight. It’s perfectly fine to have someone else or a computer shop handle the SSD partitioning. All you need to do is enjoy your music.👂

You're so kind. I'm just rambling. I'm just joking because I've helped so many older friends with their computer. I just think that technology should make life easier. My young friend who is way better than me (I just scored a 9 in advanced math, he got a 10+) said in his podcast: AI just adds tasks to your schedule monitoring instead of writing code, so you become less good at writing yourself.

Technology should serve man and make life more fun. And I am having fun with the new streamer, only there are so many possibilities to discover. When I get the SSD up and running, next is storing my music, series and movies, I'll dive in further customizing. I want to see if I can install a different launcher, icons, and music visualisations on the big screen. That would be really cool.

The standard interface is ok but it's a bit colourful for my taste.

Your explanation has really helped me understand. You’re not just spouting nonsense; you’re using humor to highlight a profound truth: technology is supposed to make life easier, but if used improperly, it can actually cause people to lose their original skills.

Take your friend’s point about AI—if AI writes code for you, you’ll gradually lose the ability to write code yourself; if AI generates playlists for you, you might never again curate a playlist yourself based on your mood. It isn’t empowering you; it’s simply “doing the work for you.” But you’re different. You install SSDs yourself, switch launchers, tweak icons, and create music visualizations for your big screen… This is precisely how you use technology to preserve your craftsmanship. You’re not just a tech enthusiast; you’re the kind of person who refuses to let tools domesticate you.

Small update about the remote app. Of course it's very convenient to use your phone or tablet as remote controller. But sometimes I'm busy on my phone (cough gaming cough 😄) so it's nice to have something else to control the music, of change to a different video on YouTube.

So, I copied the vip.mymei.remote.4.apk to my Fiio M21 DAP (it has wifi) and opened it with the installer (you don't need Google play store). And look, it works perfectly. It's always good to have options. 😉👍🏻

Wow! That’s a great idea! When we were developing the DM100, we thought we could just install the APK on the device itself—no need to install it on the phone—and then use the phone to control the DM100, freeing up the phone’s memory. But your approach of using other devices to control the DM100 completely eliminates the need for a phone. It’s truly a brilliant idea.(y)

I think there’s a lot of room for experimentation with the Android system. As long as we think outside the box, we can bring many great ideas to life.

Wow! To świetny pomysł! To naprawdę genialny pomysł.(y)

Myślę, że jest dużo miejsca na eksperymenty z systemem Android. Dopóki myślimy nieszablonowo, możemy wcielić w życie wiele wspaniałych pomysłów.
Wouldn't it be better to make a proper remote control to become independent from the phone?A remote that can operate all functions?

And an HDMI output so you can connect it to a TV and have a comfortable 55‑inch interface? That's much more convenient than staring at the tiny phone screen or a small display on the device.

It already has a good remote that can even function as a mouse. You can play/pause, and when watching video the o- ring buttons serve as rewind and fast forward.

The DM100 has an HDMI output that displays up to 4k resolution. I can look at the tv while using the app as a touchpad. Or push the cursor button on the remote and a cursor appears on the screen you can move with the o-ring. Just like on a computer screen. But I think a touchscreen is much easier.

When I'm using the TV I can have the DM100 send the audio sent to the tv too, so when I switch on my TV my dac and amplifier turn on automatically through the outgoing HDMI-ARC. Or, when I want to listen to music on my main system I send the audio through the USB out while the tv only gets the video part.

Idea:
Another option I could think of that is not included in the DM100 is an air mouse. Like a remote with built in gyroscopes that can move the cursor by moving it through the air. The only challenge is sensitivity, not to high so it's movement is precise, not to low that you have to wave your whole arm.
I have an older airmouse that worked quite well, with a USB dongle to receive data. Although I wouldn't want to use the only USB socket on the back for that.

So, one week later...
I said to myself, why not do it right and order a case for every occasion. So one for M2 SSD, one for 2.5" SSD (the old 2TB from the Rose streamer) and one for 3.5" sATA HD so I can collect all my stuff on the new 4TB. I ordered on AliExpress and hardly a week later I'm up and running.
This fancy case was just €15.

I put the M2 SSD from the DM100 in the case, plugged the USB in to the DAP and it recognised an OTG drive, and asked me if I wanted to format it. A minute later it was ready to go. It didn't give me any options other than just format, so I assume it's formatted in exFAT. I copied some files I might need at lightning speed and then I reversed the whole proces I just did and put it in the DM100.

1000082046.jpg

So, you don't even need a computer. Android will recognize your SSD and ask you if you want to format it. As long as it's not the internal drive (which it a good safety precaution). I think it would have worked even with the DM100. It is really easy.

Now I can use the old 2TB SSD as a backup. Speed over USB 3 is much faster than my old HDs. And let's see what's on my old HD I still have from my PCs. It's time to get my files organised.

The apps I want require GSM. Which apk file works? Instructions to get google play store installed would be appreciated
I had to look it up to be sure but I was right. The AI answer says it better than I would.

"If an Android app requires GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) to connect, it means the app relies on a cellular network (like 2G, 3G, or 4G LTE) and an active SIM card to operate. "

I'll translate that for you: Google wants to snoop on you. Use your personal data before it lets that app perform it's trick for you.

The DM100 is not a mobile phone. And I'm very happy it uses an Android that is deGoogled. There are almost always alternatives. Some poorer, some better, some free, some $.
So personally I think it's better not to install Google Play Store. Soon it will be impossible to install apps outside Google or Apple in the EU. I wouldn't be surprised if Google disabled all other installers and apps like a little coocoobird.

If it's something in particular you'd like to use maybe you should be specific. Say which app. Maybe I know a good alternative.
